News Dated 17.02.2026 – All India Save Education Committee AISEC all India General Secretary Prof. Tarun Kanti Naskar in a press statement condemning the move of UGC on Bharati-Nari to Narayani said that, the UGC on the basis of letters from RSS linked organisations like Bharatiya Vidwat Parishat (BVP) and Rashtriya Sevika Samity (RSS) issued an order urging all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to actively support and participate in the Convention titled “Bharati-Nari to Narayani” to be held on 7-8 March 2026. UGC has also requested all women Vice-Chancellors to participate. It has also requested the HEIs to nominate two faculty members from each institution to attend the Convention. UGC, an autonomous body for accreditating HEIs and granting them fund, by issuing this Order, has virtually turned itself out to be a stooge for RSS.
The eight themes like “strengthening the roots” or “stories of success” that are referred in the letters of those two organisations are based on issues that encourage women to go back to family for “taking conservationist aporoach”, “preserving traditions”, “supporting education within families” etc., which have nothing to do with equipping women to face the challenges of modern life. These have the similarity with the ‘Mauvadi’ surmons for women like ‘go back to kitchen’ and ‘nurture child’. In fact the BJP & RSS are the votaries of these Manuvadi views.
AISEC strongly condemn this Order of the UGC and demand immediate withdrawal of it.
