News dated 17.08.2025 – The increasing attacks on secular, scientific and publicistic education and the role of National Education Policy 2020 and on key features of Alternative Public Education Policy 2025 a State level education convention was held in Patna, Bihar.

Professor Bharti S, former Dean of Social Science Department of Patna University inaugurating the convention said that every child, be it from any caste, religion, language, gender or socio-economic background, should get equal education. He said that this important task could not be completed even after 77 years of independence.

Former Professor Dr. of JNU, Delhi addressing the convention. Sachidanand Sinha said that the education system dreamed of by the pioneers of National Awakening and the leaders of the freedom movement in our country was not only obtaining a degree, but it also had the aspiration of secular, scientific and democratic values. The slave of this dream was not possible to come true in India. But today
Even after so many years of independence, the new education policy (NEP-2020) brought by the Central Government has remained a means to hand over our education system in personal hands. Education is not the right of the people, but it is being made an object of business.

Addressing the convention, Professor Tarun Kanti Naskar, National General Secretary of Education Committee from All India said that the new National Education Policy 2020 will hand over the country’s education system to market, capitalists and narrow thinking. This policy will deprive the poor, Dalits, tribals and women of education. He said that education makes a man a man. The education that saved man, today he must save man. He appealed to all education lovers to join this great campaign to save education. Addressing the convention, former Chancellor of Vir Kunwar Singh University and former Principal of Patna College Prof. R. S. Education is being pushed towards religious and mythological beliefs in the name of ‘Indian knowledge system’ in NEP 2020. Superstition and narrowness is flourishing instead of scientific perspectives in students. Former Dean Prof. of Student Welfare of Tilka Manjhi University. Yogendra said that education is not already a victim of neglect at both budget and expenditure levels and now it continues to cut.

Addressing the panel discussion held on higher education at convention, Prof. Arun Kumar, General Secretary of AIFUTCO, said that education is not an asset of one class, but of the whole society. It is our right to receive it. This can neither be sold in the market nor painted in communal colour. Former professor and educationist Santosh Kumar of NIT, Patna said that today the need is that we all-students, teachers, parents, intellectuals, staff and education-loving citizens- come on one platform and raise voice against this crisis situation of education. Former Urdu Department President of College of Commerce, Arts and Science Dr. Safdar Imam Qadri said the purpose of education is man-building, character-building, not to prepare a robot armed with information. The education system has lost this basic purpose of education under the National Education Policy 2020.

The discussion held under the panel discussion on school education was addressed by RTE’s Bihar State Coordinator Anil Kumar Rai, teacher and social worker Shashibhushan Chaudhary and teacher and education lover Narendra Priyadarshi. In this order, speakers said that budget aid to government schools and universities is continuously being reduced. Private institutions are being promoted by slowly eliminating government schools and universities under the National Education Policy. The education that should have been all-accessible is going to be limited to rich and higher middle class families. The result of poor and lower middle class students will be deprived of education.

Public Education Policy 2025 presented at Convention. It was said that this public education policy laying the foundation of democratic, inclusive and scientific education system will give equal opportunity to all citizens of the country and pave the way for building a just and progressive society. All speakers in one voice spoke about standing up protest against NEP 2020 and starting a vigorous movement in support of the demand for implementation of Public Education Policy 2025.

An empowered committee was formed through convention aimed at saving education and accelerating education movement. Prof. Awww. P. Jaiswal, Prof. Dharmendra Kumar, Vyas ji and Professor IS Arya being patronized by Prof. Santosh Kumar has been made the president.
